Ragnar Klavan’s departure weakens the defensive depth, and Klopp has also sent Grujic on loan to Hertha Berlin, meaning he has one less option in midfield.

The 22 year-old will get vital experience in the Bundesliga, but with Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain out for the season, could it be a little short-sighted from the manager?

Fans will remember the later stages of last season’s Champions League run, when at one point there was just three fit midfielders to choose from.

Grujic may not be ready for all-out first team action, but he is 22 and a full international, so surely he could be of use in the chase for four competitions.
