The Championship has been a highly competitive league this season, with Brighton and Newcastle the front-runners for top spot for the majority of the campaign.

Of course, Newcastle’s first team is arguably one of the best to ever play in the Championship, with Rafael Benitez’s side certainly more than capable of claiming pole position this season, but led by Chris Hughton, Brighton have stolen a march on the Magpies – leaving the title race wide open as we approach the tail end of the campaign.

It is in timely fashion, then, that the pair are due to meet this week in what can only be described as a title six-pointer, with the winner of the game likely emerging as favourites to seal the Championship crown come the end of the season.

And whilst Newcastle have impressed this season, Brighton have gone far above and beyond expectations – with a number of the individuals within Houghton’s squad performing fantastically so far.

Although there is still a lot of football to be played between now and the end of May, Rafa Benitez will undeniably have one eye on the summer. And given how well Brighton have performed this season, could he have his eye on one or two of the Seagulls’ most impressive players?
