When the Portuguese superstar moved to the Middle East, he was the biggest import to make it to the Saudi League and he famously claimed that the league would become one of the five leagues. He has now doubled down on his prediction after a slew of major transfers including the likes of Karim Benzema, Riyad Mahrez, N'golo Kante and Neymar. He has predicted the next few windows could see even bigger names moving to the ever-rising league.

"I'm happy because when I made the decision to come here nobody believe what I said," he told Saudi broadcaster SSC Sport [via The Daily Mail]. "But that is the past. It doesn't matter anymore, the most important is that the league has grown and that players want to come because they know the league is competitive and the whole world is watching now."

The likes of Mohamed Salah seem to be the highest up on the transfer wishlist for the Saudi clubs. The league has not managed to hit the levels in terms of consumers as a lot of the games have failed to attract sold-out crowds.
WHAT NEXT FOR SAUDI PRO LEAGUE?
The league is unlikely to attract the same kind of star power this winter transfer window but they plan to go big yet again in the summer window.
