Swansea defender Neil Taylor has apologised to fans following their weekend defeat to Leicester City.
Over 2,000 travelling fans made the trip to the King Power Stadium to see their side dismantled in a 4-0 battering, their heaviest loss of the season.
Leicester, without talisman Jamie Vardy, were rampant and continued their charge towards the Premier League title, moving eight points clear of closest rivals Tottenham.
Two goals from stand-in striker Leonardo Ulloa and strikes either side from PFA Player of the Year Riyad Mahrez and Marc Albrighton completed the rout.
The Swans have now conceded seven in their last two games following last week’s 3-0 defeat to Newcastle at St James Park,
Taylor (as quoted by the South Wales Evening Post) said: “We are disappointed for our fans who travelled up to watch the game. It has been a bad two weeks for them and as a team we can only apologise for that.
“We have to keep fighting to turn this form around once again and get as much as we can from our final three games. We want to put a display on next weekend to put things right.”
Despite being safe from relegation, it has been a poor season for Francesco Guidolin’s team who are set for the worst Premier League finish since returning to the division via the Championship play-offs in 2011.
The Italian’s side currently sit 15th in the table, and an upcoming run of difficult fixtures against Liverpool, West Ham and Manchester City means much improvement is needed for the Swans if they are to climb further up the table.
Taylor added: ”We have been in a good run of form but now we are off the back of two defeats away from home.
“We have to go back to the drawing board as a team and defend a lot better because we are really disappointed with the number of goals we have conceded in the last two games.”
