Liverpool fans have called on the club to sign Nathan Ake in the summer.
AFC Bournemouth gave their clash with the Reds a real go on Saturday, scoring the opening goal at Anfield through Callum Wilson.
They were eventually caught out, though, as goals from Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane gave Jurgen Klopp’s men all three points.
Nevertheless, a number of supporters were impressed with Ake’s performance.
Per WhoScored, the 25-year-old made a staggering 15 clearances throughout the game, while also winning three aerial duels.
No clues: Can you name the season these iconic Liverpool images belong to?
Ake won two interceptions too, and a number of supporters believe he could provide depth in defence next season.
A couple of fans brought Dejan Lovren’s name into the conversation, suggesting that Ake is more than good enough to be an upgrade and a replacement for the Croatian.
One supporter in particular meanwhile acknowledged that Ake wouldn’t come cheap though.
And just like the fan above suggests, it really isn’t going to be a cheap deal if it gets done.
Transfermarkt value Ake at £31.5m and he has been a fixture for Bournemouth in recent years, making 115 appearances for the club.
He was heavily linked with a possible move to Chelsea – the club where he began his career – in the January transfer window, but they opted against exercising a clause that would have allowed them to sign him for a reduced fee.
Bournemouth would surely be loathe to lose one of their prized assets; if Liverpool want to follow the advice of their fans, they will need to get the chequebook out.
Meanwhile, Liverpool fans have reacted to an amazing James Milner moment!
