Liverpool youngster Ben Woodburn has caught the eye of many football figures during an impressive international break.
The 17-year-old made an immediate impact when making his Wales debut as he scored the one and only goal in a victory over Austria.
Woodburn also made the difference in his nation’s second World Cup qualifier when he produced the assist for Hal Robson-Kanu’s goal in a 2-0 triumph over Moldova.
On both occasions, manager Chris Coleman brought the Liverpool youngster off the bench, but after his shining performances, fans are now urging Jurgen Klopp to give him more first-team minutes at his club.
Woodburn first came to the attention of the mainstream when he made his senior debut for the Reds in 2016.
The forward made five Premier League appearances in total, four as a substitute and one from the starting spot.
Woodburn played just 84 minutes of top-flight action last season, and because of his display on the international stage, fans want to see more of him at a domestic level.
However, Bellamy, who played for Wales and Liverpool during his career, believes that the teenager should continue to develop at a normal pace.
The Express quotes the 38-year-old as saying:
“I don’t believe that Ben Woodburn needs to be more involved with the first team at Liverpool. He’s 17, he’s got plenty of time, and the club know what they are doing with him. I’m completely fine with their plan for Ben. He’s a kid who is learning his trade, and doing well enough.
“These next few years are the most important period in a young player’s career, and I know he’s in really good hands. Liverpool think a lot of him, and they’re going to keep progressing him, but not too quickly.”
