Fernandes admits confidence crisisSaid he doubted if he was good enoughCaptain urges Hojlund to build on his goalWHAT HAPPENED?
Fernandes contributed to United's epic 3-2 comeback win over Aston Villa but he said the team's terrible run of results this season had impacted on his confidence and that of his team-mates. He also urged match-winner Rasmus Hojlund to build on his first Premier League goal after waiting 14 appearances to net for the first time.

"The belief has to be there, because if you don’t believe in each other it’s going to be difficult," Fernandes told . "Obviously in these last moments there’s going to be some disbelief, even in yourself. You start to think: ‘Am I even good enough to be here?’ It’s normal when things are not going right. It’s the way you overcome that and get results even when things are not going well."

United went into the match after losing their 13th game of the season against West Ham on Saturday and without scoring in their previous four outings. The players were then booed off the pitch at half-time by the home supporters after Villa had taken a 2-0 lead. But United were a different beast in the second half and Alejandro Garnacho was the architect of their revival, which was completed by Hojlund. The £72m man had not scored in the Premier League and Fernandes admitted he expected more of the Denmark striker.
FERNANDES ON HOJLUND
"We really need this. As a striker he needs to score goals. We want our strikers to have confidence to get more goals," Fernandes said on Hojlund. "He knows he’s going to have pressure; he plays for one of the biggest clubs in the world. You have to get used to that. I hope he has more to come because we really need him to score goals and every striker in the team."
