Liverpool and Southampton have a curious relationship in the transfer market, namely one of Southampton buying a player for cheap, waiting for him to play well at Anfield and then selling him to the Merseysiders for double or triple of the previous fee.
Indeed, Sadio Mane, Rickie Lambert, Dejan Lovren and Nathaniel Clyne have all left St. Mary’s for Liverpool in recent summers with mixed results, but according to ESPN, the Reds are considering prising another player away from the south coast outfit in the form of Ryan Bertrand.
Admittedly, the England international is enjoying another solid season and Liverpool are in desperate need of a left-back, with Alberto Moreno proving so inadequate Jurgen Klopp as preferred to field midfielder James Milner there for the majority of the campaign.
With that in mind, we asked Liverpool fans earlier this week whether they’d back a summer transfer swoop for the one-time Chelsea ace and according to the results of our poll, a significant 64% would.
But are you part of the Liverpool majority, or should the club be targeting a different left-back? Let us know by commenting below…
