The majority of Leeds fans that voted in our poll were keen for the club to pursue a pre-contract agreement for Gary Cahill in January that would see the 32-year-old join the Whites on a free transfer in the summer of 2019.
Cahill has been at Chelsea since his move from Bolton in January 2012 and has won seven major trophies in that time including two Premier League titles and the Champions League, making 282 appearances in all competitions in the process.
Leeds appointed highly-regarded boss Marcelo Bielsa this summer and have been in fine form at the start of the season, with 14 points from six games meaning they top the Championship table ahead of Middlesbrough on goal difference.
The manner of their victories and performances have led many to speculate that the Elland Road outfit could be back in the Premier League next summer, but the experience of Cahill would be invaluable whatever league they turn out in, and he would help Pontus Jansson get back to his best after the Swede has often found himself on the substitutes’ bench in recent times.
In total, 83% of Leeds fans wanted the club to target him in January on a pre-contract deal, with his contract at Chelsea running out next summer.
